When my son started asking how you get gray hair, I knew it was time to color my hair again!
I had my colors done by House of Colour several years ago (you can read my review of my color analysis here) and ever since have been sold on the magic of knowing the best colors for my season (I’m a Summer). So, when it was time to color my hair (and let’s be honest, cover the gray!) it made sense for me to book an appointment at Blend & Bright in Ankeny. Their stylists are incredibly knowledgable and know what colors and tones work best with each season. They are experts at mixing a color that works best with your season.
Hair Color Services
I learned that my hair color and highlights should be “cool”. However, whenever you are lightening hair, it naturally pulls “warm.” If a stylist doesn’t understand this when you ask for highlights, someone with a “cool” season (Winter and Summer) will probably get a color that pulls warm and looks brassy against their skin. Once my color was done, Haley, my stylist also shared recommendations for how to maintain the color.
When I went in, my highlights, on the left, were super light from the summer and I was ready to tone everything down. I couldn’t be more pleased with the results on the right!
I am fascinated with color analysis; the more I learn, the more I love it! In addition to choosing a hair color that works best with your color season, you can also get makeup that coincides with your palette at the salon.
