What’s New in Des Moines Summer 2026

Gray’s Lake Park and Sprayground Gray’s Lake just got a lot cooler with the opening of a brand-new park and sprayground. 

Looking for more new parks to explore? Check out: Doane’s Park (with a splash pad) in Pleasant Hill, Jordan Park (with a sprayground) in Des Moines, Brenton Slough in Grimes, and Sayers Park (with a splash pad) in Des Moines. 

Orlondo’s Pizza The wait is almost over for fans of crispy, thin-crust pizza. Orlando’s Pizza is opening soon in Grimes. Get ready for pizza, onion rings, and the best creamy Italian dressing. 

Slick City Action Park This epic indoor slide park is opening in West Des Moines this summer! It features slides, air courts, and more. 

Roni’s Mac Bar Love all things mac n cheese? Head to Roni’s Mac Bar in Waukee. The sky’s the limit for their customizable macaroni where you get to choose your pasta, cheese, and toppings. 

Eden The newest coffee spot in downtown Waukee offers a place to connect and recharge in an open and airy space.  

Monster Mini Golf Indoor mini golf is coming to Grimes! This spooky, glow-in-the-dark experience includes an 18-hole course, bowling, arcade, laser tag, and more! 

Outside Scoop Grimes is a little sweeter after the opening of a new handcrafted ice cream shop.  

Home Sweet Cone This local ice cream shop is opening its third location on Ingersoll Avenue in Des Moines.  

Soggy Frog Marina Enjoy live music, lake views, and food at this floating bar and rooftop restaurant at Saylorville Lake Marina. 

Happy Home Coffee Downtown’s newest coffee shop opens June 20.
