Did you know that color analysis isn’t just for adults? It’s for kids too and a fun and exciting experience for them!

I was fortunate enough to learn my season in a House of Colour color analysis in 2019, and it was life-changing. I have saved so much energy knowing what clothes, makeup, hair color, and even nail polish work in my color pallet. Knowing your best colors (and style!) makes shopping a breeze and saves you precious time and money.

Your season (spring, summer, autumn, and winter) will never change, and because your color palette will never change, learning your best colors young makes sense! Just think: my handsome son will know his best neutral for picking out his first suit.

As a winter, he glows in vivid, saturated, bright, and icy colors. That first day of school jitters? He can quell them, knowing he is confident he’s looking his best in his best colors! Senior pictures will be a breeze when he can tell his photographer that cool-colored backgrounds are best for him. And someday, for that important job interview, he can feel secure in choosing a charcoal gray suit with a pop of royal blue in his tie choice. This confidence boost is invaluable.

Now that she knows her color season, my daughter knows the best colors for her to shine on stage in her solo dance costume. Just think about how much easier prom dress shopping will be when she already understands the colors she glows in. Knowing your best colors also crosses over into your best makeup undertones and hair colors. And someday, far down the road, she’ll even know her “best white” for her wedding dress!

If you’re still not convinced about the power of color analysis, my kids had a fantastic experience during their color analysis appointments. Kristen made them feel comfortable and boosted their confidence, helping them embrace their uniqueness.

Color analysis appointments for children are shorter, and at the end, they receive a color book from the House of Colour that provides information about their seasonal colors. The information in the color book is something they can reference for the rest of their lives! For example, when young girls start wearing makeup, the color book can help guide makeup choices to enhance their features rather than overapplying makeup or colors that don’t compliment their undertones. Now they can go into the rest of their lives with this shopping knowledge to help them save time and money and be more confident about themselves!

Kara Knaack
Kara originally hails from northwest Iowa where she met her husband, Lance, through a 4-H fashion show. After a decade of living in central Iowa, Kara is still figuring out which way is north. Wearing the hat of “wife, mommy, employee, chef, ribbon tie-er and family calendar organizer,” Kara knows a bit about juggling life and work. Kara became a boy-mom in June of 2011 to Lucan and a girl-mom to Gracelyn in December of 2014. Most days you can find her mixing up metaphors and oversharing life’s moments via social media. Kara enjoys yoga, reading, gardening, cooking, sewing in straight lines and singing along to musicals. A spender by nature, but thrifty by necessity, Kara is always in hunt of a bargain. She’s an active member of Northpoint Church and a resident of Grimes. Her vision for life includes “doing the best we can with what God gives us.”
