What I’m Loving Lately for Summer Fun

How is everyone holding up now that it’s summer? With all this staying home business, I’ve had to be a little creative, and let’s be honest social media has definitely inspired some late-night purchases and inspiration.

What I’m loving lately for Summer Fun

Coffee

Since I have not been making my weekly Starbucks run (guilty) I’ve had to get a little creative and thankfully I haven’t been the only one. I got this handheld milk frother for Mother’s Day and this little gadget has made it so fun to make coffee in the morning!

I’ve also been loving the whipped coffee– although I can’t drink it as often because it has 2 tablespoons of coffee in it- #hellojitters

In case you haven’t seen this recipe floating around on the interweb: let me help- it’s a simple 2 tbsp instant coffee, 2 tbsp sugar (I only do 1/2 tbsp), and 2 tbsp of hot water. Then, you whip it, whip it good. And when you think you’ve whipped enough, you do it some more. You dollop that whipped goodness on top of iced or hot milk of your choice. It looks so fancy but don’t forget to stir it up! Once you stir it up, you’ll still get that layer of heavenly foam on top!

And you can put all the fancy lattes you’re making at home in these pretty mugs that give me all the heart eyes when I’m drinking out of them. This one is bright and cheery and I also think this one is so pretty!

Hydroflask tumbler

I am a self-proclaimed lover of water bottles and coffee mugs but hear me out! Since I’m home 24/7, I got myself a new Hydroflask but it’s a tumbler instead of the water bottle. I like it a little better for around the house and it comes in so many pretty colors. I have the lid with straw (purchased separately). The straw clicks in place and while not leak-proof, it does help minimize spilling (which is much needed with an 18-month-old who loves to drink mommy’s drink) And it fits in my car cup holder (not that I’ll need that for a while)

And now moving away from coffee…

Mothercloud Instagram account

I started following this account on Instagram shortly after Spring Break. I needed fresh inspiration to keep the kids busy. Her ideas are SO fun and my kids have loved every single one of them!

I am reading this right now and have so much of it highlighted.

Olive and June Nail Polish

Anyone else needing a mani and pedi? I discovered this brand a while back and decided to try it out. I love how smooth it applies and it really is long-lasting!

Janes and Marne in the East Village

it’s always a good idea to shop local but especially in these times. These two are some of my favorites and bonus-they’re right next door to one another! They both have curbside pick right now!

Water splash pad

I got this with my 18 month old in mind but in reality, my 7 and 9 year old loved it too. With summer plans in the air, I thought this would be a great addition for summer fun in our backyard.

All smiles!

Pinterest

No, I haven’t just discovered Pinterest- more like, I’ve REdiscovered it. From pinning ideas for crafts and activities for the kids to home projects- it’s become my new best friend again for summer fun.

Friendship bracelets

Who else remembers these? These take me back to my late elementary and early middle school summer days- where we’d all make friendship bracelets and wear them all up and down our arms all summer long. It was like a badge of honor and rite of passage for us as kids. It’s been a (few) years, so I had to do a quick Google search to jog my memory but in no time, we were all making each other bracelets.

Public Goods

I discovered this brand before Covid-19 but now more than ever, it’s come in handy. Not only are their products very affordable but they are a sustainable and clean brand. I’ve tried the shampoo/conditioner, body wash, lotion, and hand soap. I love that you can buy refills for these items as well. I also love the packaging- it’s all in white/black. In my latest order, I also tried the oatmeal and spices that we were running low on. One of my guilty pleasures is ramen and so I love that they offer a “healthier” version of it! It’s really tasty!

So, has being in quarantine sparked anything new for you? I’d love to hear what you’re loving lately for summer fun!

Also, please note, I completely understand some of us aren’t in the position to buy new things right now and that this time is extremely difficult. I am sending you my love.
