Ingersoll Live Des Moines IAIngersoll LIVE, presented by Bankers Trust, returns on August 26. This free, family-friendly event takes over the 2800 block of Ingersoll Avenue from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Locals know this “block party” is packed with fun including three stages of live music and entertainment plus local vendors, food trucks, art, and family activities.

Top 4 kid-friendly activities at Ingersoll LIVE

1. “Painting & Pennants” with the Des Moines Art Center

Teaching artists from the Des Moines Art Center will be on-site helping kids create their own works of art. The pennants will be made as a collective piece to hang on the tent during the event and then donated to Broadlawns to hang on their children’s floor. The paintings will be to take home.

2. Catch a performance

After the Isiserettes Drill & Drum Corp kick off the event, head to the Community Stage to see local nonprofit organizations that provide arts programming for kids in action. Performers include:

    • City Voices
    • The Des Moines Playhouse
    • Say Poetry
    • Des Moines Breakerz
    • Girls Rock!

3. Spend time in the Kid Zone

Nobody will get bored at Ingersoll LIVE! Little ones can take a turn on the Inflatables, enjoy a ride in the Kids Train or try their hand at a round of Mini Golf. Professional face painters and balloon artists will also be at the event. All of these activities are provided free of charge!

4. Mini donuts and shaved ice, yum!

Once the kids work up an appetite, there are a few food vendors that cater to your child – or the child at heart– including DonutNV (mini donuts fried fresh on-site featuring fun flavors like s’mores and rainbow sprinkles) and Kona Ice (shaved ice in more than a dozen flavors).

Don’t worry, Ingersoll LIVE is just as fun for adults as it is for kids! Performances on the main stages include local bands Ducharme Jones, The Heath Alan Band, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, and Parranderos Latin Combo. A handful of food trucks and a beverage tent will also be there to serve hungry and thirsty parents.

There will also be 25+ artists, businesses, and nonprofit vendors to browse including many with fun giveaways for the whole family.
