What’s New in Des Moines Fall 2025
Timepiece Check out the latest artwork on display in downtown Des Moines. Timepiece is an innovative 3D LED installation by world-renowned artist Yorame Mevorach (known professionally as Oyoram). The clock tells time and its digital mechanical arm springs to life at the top of each hour, removing and replacing a clock face in a mesmerizing display. Find it on the Fitch Building, overlooking the Sculpture Park.
Tous Les Jours This French-Asian bakery chain opened in West Des Moines at 6880 EP True Parkway. It is known for artisan pastries, gourmet cakes, and desserts baked in-store daily.
Tribute Eatery & Bar Enjoy brunch, elevated comfort food, and late-night eats at the latest restaurant to open at The District at Prairie Trail in Ankeny.
Mee Mochi Love donuts? Wait til you try a chewy mochi donut! They are a magical fusion of a classic donut and chewy Japanese mochi. Find them at 772 W Hickman Road in Waukee.
The Slime Kitchen If your kids love slime, but you don’t want it in your house, head to Slime Kitchen at Merle Hay Mall. Kids can create their very own slime creations where they choose a scent, add color, and incorporate textures.
Zenko Tea Satisfy your bubble tea cravings at Zenko Tea’s newest location at 2701 Ingersoll Ave.
The Toasted Cone Enjoy freshly toasted cones, premium ice cream, and baked treats at the newest ice cream shop in West Des Moines. Opening in September at 9500 University Ave, Waukee.
The Ingersoll The historic dinner theater is slated to reopen its doors in November after being closed for 10 year. It will feature upscale dining and world-class musical entertainment.
Black Cat Ice Cream After closing their original Drake neighborhood location this summer. Black Cat will open in a larger space downtown later this year. It will be in the former ritual cafe location on Locust across from Western Gateway Park.
Midnight Coffee This popular coffee shop in Eastern Iowa opened its first metro location in Clive where St. Kilda Café & Bakery was previously. It is known for its craft coffee, sandwiches, salads, and pastries.
Painted Woods Park The newest addition to Waukee parks, Painted Woods Park, is set to open later this fall. The whimsical treehouse-style design encourages creative play. It is located off Indian Ridge Drive, near the intersection with Fieldstone Drive. Its inclusive features will accommodate kids of varying abilities.
Casey’s Center
As of July 1, Wells Fargo Arena is now Casey’s Center and there is a great lineup of fall shows coming including Jonas Brothers, Eric Church, Jason Aldean, Brandon Lake, Adam Sandler, and family favorite, Disney on Ice.
