Kick off the shopping season with the tree lighting at the annual Holiday Promenade.
November 22 | Annual Tree Lighting, Outlets of Des Moines
5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Guests can also enjoy a special holiday performance by the Lutheran Church of the Cross singers and brass section from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with the official tree lighting taking place at 6 p.m. Featuring a special appearance from The Grinch from Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical.

Celebrate the beginning of the Advent season with indoor worship and an outdoor tree-lighting event!

Join Wright Outdoor Solutions and 104.1 EZ fm for our tree lighting ceremony, followed by a month of festive activities in the Park. Crafts, vendors, photos with seasonal A-listers, entertainers, holiday lights, nighttime bike ride, and more!

Join the Mayor and City Council as they flip-the-switch and light up the Charles Gabus Memorial Tree Park with 50,000 lights for the holiday season! There will be hot cocoa and cookies for you to enjoy as you walk around the beautifully decorated park.
November 28 – 30| Festival of Trees and Lights, Iowa Events Center
See the most beautifully decorated trees at this fundraiser for Blank Children’s Hospital.
November 29 | Christmas in Olde Town, Altoona
2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Enjoy live music, walking tours, the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony, a light show, and a special appearance from Santa.
December 1 | Winter’s Eve, James Hurd Ampitheater in West Des Moines
5 pm
Warm up with cookies and cider and cocoa, enjoy holiday music, and join the countdown to light the Mayor’s Tree!
December 5 | Tree Lighting at Holiday Hullabaloo, Southridge Event Center
10 a.m.
Opening day at Holiday Hullabaloo includes a tree lighting, Santa, live reindeer, and so much more!

Bring the family for indoor and outdoor activities, including lighted hayrack rides, caroling, bell choir performances, refreshments, and a special visit from the man himself, Santa!
December 5 | Christkindlmarket Des Moines, Principal Park
6 p.m.
Join us for the opening ceremony of Christkindlmarket Des Moines emceed by Sally Dix, President at Bravo Greater Des Moines. Listen to the Christkind deliver her festive proclamation to open the Christkindlmarket and see the large tree lit.

Bring on the holiday cheer with your friends, family, and neighbors at Waukee’s free, annual WinterFest celebration. Free soup, cookies, and hot cocoa. Activities and tree lighting.
