adventureland in the rain yes you can have funGrowing up in Iowa, my family would take a yearly trip to visit Adventureland. Now, that I’m older and live in the Des Moines metro, we are lucky enough to be able to go more than once a year.

The whole park brings back memories, and I can still remember my first ride on the Outlaw or who I rode the Tornado with. This is why I love bringing my kids to Adventureland. I want them to experience everything Adventureland has to offer and enjoy memories for years to come!

5 Tips for Visiting Adventureland

If you’re planning a visit to Adventureland with your family, here are a few tips to help you have the best day possible.

  1. Speedy Pass – Adventureland is a super popular place to visit, and sometimes the lines can get long. Now, Adventureland offers a speedy pass. This pass is super slick and can cut down on line wait times. This is especially helpful if you’re trying to get on the super popular rides!
  2. Plan Your Route – I like to plan out which rides we’ll ride first, and where we will eat. The new Draken Falls and Flying Viking were top of our list. I definitely wanted to make sure we were able to ride both and we did!
  3. Arcade – Did you know Adventureland has an arcade? I like to head to the arcade for a little rest. My kids love playing the games, and I do too. Skee-ball is one of my favorites, and the last time we went I got a high score!
  4. Food – There are several new and exciting treats to be had at Adventureland. We had to stop and get the mini donuts, which were my kid’s favorite. On top of that, the Sweet Boutique has so many goodies, it was hard to pick just one!
  5. Get There Early And Stay Late – I like to get to the park as soon as it opens. This makes it easier to get on the rides, and ensures we get to eat at all of our favorite spots. I also like to stay until the park closes. Nothing is more fun than riding the Ferris Wheel at night, looking over the Iowa skyline. And, my kids are off of their devices for a whole day! I call that a win.

Adventureland is truly a magical place, one that creates memories for years to come. I know my kids will still be talking about how soaked we all got on Draken Falls, and how much fun they had riding The Flying Viking for years to come.

What are your favorite memories at Adventureland?
